1. Introduction
This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to all telc German language examination bookings made through www.defatelc.com, operated by DEFA INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED.
Candidates are advised to carefully review their examination details, eligibility requirements, and this policy before completing their booking and payment.
By confirming an examination booking, candidates acknowledge and accept the terms outlined below, subject to their rights under applicable law.
2. Booking Confirmation
An examination booking is considered confirmed once the required registration information has been submitted, the examination fee has been successfully received and verified, and booking confirmation has been issued by DeFa.
Candidates will receive booking confirmation through their registered email address or another designated communication channel.
3. No Refund After Booking Confirmation
All confirmed examination bookings are final and non-refundable, except where a refund is required under applicable law or expressly provided under this policy.
Once a booking has been confirmed, DEFA INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED will not issue refunds for candidate-initiated cancellation, withdrawal, or inability to attend the examination.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Changes in personal circumstances or travel plans
- Illness or personal emergencies
- Failure to attend the scheduled examination
- Incorrect selection of examination level or module
- Incorrect selection of examination date or centre
- Failure to provide required identification documents
- Failure to meet examination eligibility or admission requirements
- Late arrival or absence on the examination day
- Change of mind after booking confirmation
Candidates are strongly encouraged to verify all examination details before making payment.
4. Cancellation by the Candidate
Candidates who wish to cancel their confirmed examination booking may notify DeFa by email.
However, cancellation requests submitted after booking confirmation will not qualify for a refund, except where required by applicable law.
Failure to attend the examination without prior notice will be treated as a no-show and will not entitle the candidate to a refund.
5. Rescheduling and Booking Changes
Examination dates, modules, and centres are selected during registration and are subject to availability and examination administration requirements.
Requests to change or reschedule a confirmed booking are not automatically permitted.
Any exception will be considered at the discretion of DeFa, subject to the applicable examination rules, administrative feasibility, and availability.
Approval of any such request is not guaranteed. Additional charges may apply if a change is approved, and candidates will be informed of such charges before proceeding.
6. Examination Cancellation or Changes by DeFa
In exceptional circumstances, an examination may need to be postponed, rescheduled, relocated, or cancelled due to operational, administrative, regulatory, safety, or other circumstances beyond reasonable control.
Where this occurs, DeFa will communicate the available arrangements to affected candidates.
Depending on the circumstances, these may include:
- An alternative examination date
- An alternative examination centre
- Other appropriate arrangements
- A refund where required by applicable law or where DeFa determines that the booked examination service cannot be provided
The no-refund rule for candidate-initiated cancellations does not override any mandatory refund or other remedy available under applicable law.
7. Failed or Duplicate Payments
If a payment is deducted but the examination booking is not successfully confirmed, candidates should contact DeFa with their transaction details.
Duplicate payments, unsuccessful transactions, or amounts collected in error will be reviewed and, where verified, refunded or otherwise resolved as appropriate.
Any approved refund will normally be processed through the original payment method, subject to payment provider procedures and applicable banking timelines.
8. Examination Eligibility and Documentation
Candidates must ensure that all personal information and supporting documents submitted during registration are accurate and valid.
DeFa may reject or cancel registrations containing false, misleading, incomplete, or invalid information, subject to applicable examination requirements and law.
Such cancellation does not automatically entitle the candidate to a refund.

10. Policy Acceptance
Before completing an examination booking, candidates are responsible for reviewing the examination details, applicable requirements, and this Refund & Cancellation Policy.
By completing the booking process, candidates acknowledge that they have read and understood this policy.
11. Policy Amendments
DEFA INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in examination administration, operational requirements, or applicable law.
The revised policy will be published on our website with an updated effective date. Changes will not retrospectively remove mandatory legal rights.
12. Governing Law
This policy is governed by the applicable laws of India.
Any dispute relating to examination bookings, cancellations, or refunds will be subject to applicable Indian law and the jurisdiction of competent courts and authorities.
